INTRODUCTION

The bike is a 07 Kawasaki KLR650 and the plan is to ride it from Vladivostok, far east Russia to Europe via Mongolia, Kazakhstan and hopefully along the Pamir Highway heading off in the first week of June. Not sure how many kilometers this trip will be but at a guess maybe around 20,000 plus.

This site will be updated periodically on the trip showing new photos and trip progression.

After about 4months and over 20,000kms I arrived in Finland, unfortunately we were unable to go on the Pamir Highway because there was some problems in Kyrgyzstan so I decide to leave this for another time.

In Finland I rested up and did some repairs to the bike for a little while and then headed off to the south of Europe in November 2010. In Europe pt2 you can see the progression and photos of the continued ride.

The bike just after it was bought in January 2010, stock standard apart from the staintune muffler and touring screen. Photo taken at Lake Edge, Berkeley Vale.

Fitting of accessories - crash bars, centre stand, bash plate, accessory socket, heated hand grips, pannier racks

March and the bike is almost done! It now has the aluminum panniers which were custom made by a local aluminum fabricator and tool tube mounted, all it needs now is some multipurpose tyres and a test ride.

After fitting a set of Continental TKC-80 tyres front and back I took the bike for a quick spin in Ourimbah State Forest.

Monday 12th April. The bike getting fork lifted into the container somewhere in Sydney. One of the boys had welded together some nifty little frames so all we had to do was strap the bikes to these and then get them forked into the container.

The fellas!
The bikes are loaded and ready to be shipped.

Unloading the bikes in the yard after a long anticipated wait for the truck to arrive with our container

Everyone was pleased that our bikes were there and intact, the only problem with my bike was a flat battery but that was no real drama, I just got Chris to give me a jump start
